Every month, thousands of people in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East search for the same thing: a way to open a US bank account from abroad. Most of them do not want to move to the United States. They want to be paid in dollars by American clients, platforms and marketplaces, and to pay US suppliers without losing money on every transfer. A US dollar account with local coordinates does exactly that.
What a US dollar account actually is
A US dollar account gives you two numbers: a routing number, which identifies where the account is held in the United States, and an account number, which identifies you. Together they are the US equivalent of an IBAN. Anyone in the United States can pay you with them, exactly as they would pay a local company.
With iSwiss Pay, the account is opened in your name, whether you are a private individual or a company, and the balance is held in full reserve: it is never lent or invested, and it stays available at all times.
Who can open one
You do not need to be a US resident, and you are not asked for a US Social Security Number. Verification is based on your identity document, a short video check and, if requested, a proof of address. Accounts are available to private individuals of legal age and to companies, subject to our compliance policy: some countries and activities are excluded.
What you can do with it
- Receive payments from US clients, employers, platforms and marketplaces through ACH, the standard US network, simply by giving them your routing and account number.
- Receive and send high-value or urgent payments within the United States through Fedwire, the same-day wire system.
- Send and receive international transfers in US dollars through SWIFT, to and from banks worldwide.
- Hold a dollar balance alongside euro, sterling and gold in the same app, and convert between them when you decide.
How to open it
The whole process is online. You create your profile from any device, verify your identity with a document and a short video, and once the review is complete your US coordinates appear in the app. From that moment you can share them with anyone who needs to pay you.
Three things to check before you share your details
- ACH or wire? For everyday payments ACH is enough. For large or time-sensitive amounts, ask the payer to use Fedwire.
- Use the exact name on the account. US payments are matched on the account number, but a mismatched name can delay a transfer.
- Keep the balance where you want it. Dollars stay in dollars until you choose to convert.
