There are many ways to “buy gold” online, and most of them give you a number on a screen backed by a fund, a derivative or a promise. A physical gold account is different: you own metal, held by a custodian, in your name. This guide explains how iSwiss Pay's gold account works, in plain terms.
Physical gold, not paper
When you buy gold through the app, you are buying physical gold. It is custodied by iSwiss Deposit S.A. in Switzerland, outside the banking system. Your balance is shown in grams, and it corresponds to metal held for you.
From 1 gram
The minimum purchase is one gram. You buy with your euro, dollar or sterling balance, directly from the app, and the grams appear on your gold account. You can add more whenever you want, in the amount you want.
Transfers in gold
This is what sets the account apart. You can send gold to any other iSwiss Pay user, in grams, directly in the app, without converting to currency first. A gift, a payment between partners, a transfer to a family member: the gold moves from your account to theirs.
Back to currency when you want
You can sell all or part of your gold at any time. The proceeds return to your currency balance, ready to be used or transferred.
Who it is for
- People who want part of their savings in a tangible asset, outside the banking system, held in Switzerland.
- Families and business partners who want to pass value between them in gold rather than currency.
- Companies that want to hold part of their reserves in physical gold next to their currency accounts.
How to start
Open your iSwiss Pay account, fund it in euro, dollars or sterling, choose the amount in grams and confirm. Your gold appears in the app.
